Child arrangements and maintenance disputes

We assist parents with a child’s residence, contact arrangements and maintenance under Russian law. We review family circumstances and evidence and discuss settlement and court representation.

Child expenses and payments received: a preparation worksheet

Copy this template into your own table or print it and complete it on paper. Use separate rows for each month and identify one-off expenses. This helps prepare for a maintenance consultation; it does not calculate an amount a court will necessarily award.

Month / dateExpense or payment receivedAmount, RUBEvidence
________Food / clothing / education / treatment________Receipt, agreement or bank statement: ________
________One-off purchase (list separately)________________
________Transfer from the other parent________Date and payment reference: ________
________Specific expense paid by the other parent________What was paid and supporting document: ________

Do not count the same payment twice. Total expenses and payments received separately for matching periods. Bring documents containing personal information to your appointment; do not publish a completed worksheet online.

Fixed-sum child maintenance under Russian law

If a parent’s income varies, or a percentage of income does not protect the child’s interests, a consultation can address a fixed monthly maintenance amount or a combination of percentage-based and fixed payments under Russian law. The grounds and amount depend on the family’s circumstances and evidence.

For residents of Zhulebino and Lyubertsy, we start with the child’s expenses, payments already received and available income records. We also distinguish a first maintenance claim from a request to change an existing order or agreement.

Preparing for the consultation
InformationWhat to prepare
Child’s expensesList food, clothing, education, treatment and activities. State the period, attach receipts and agreements, and identify one-off purchases separately.
Payments receivedList transfers, cash payments and directly paid expenses by date. Note the evidence supporting each amount.
Income and existing documentsBring available income records, the birth certificate, any agreement, court order and enforcement documents.

Preparation example, not a bureau case: where transfers vary, compare expenses and payments received for the same months. The table supports a discussion with an advocate; its total is not an automatic calculation of maintenance.

Divorce involving children: topics for the first meeting

We separate the issues: divorce, the child’s residence, contact arrangements and maintenance. Explain what is agreed and what is disputed. Bring property documents too if a home or mortgage must also be considered.

How we can help

Documents for the initial meeting

Birth certificates, existing agreements and court orders, information about living arrangements, the child’s expenses and compliance with previous arrangements.

What should I prepare before the consultation?

Write down the current arrangements and the changes you seek. Keep relevant correspondence and expense records. At the meeting we identify the evidence needed for your circumstances.

Process and fees

We clarify your objective, review the available records and agree the scope and terms of the engagement. Fees depend on the work and stage of the case; expenses and additional steps are discussed in advance. Bring the documents you have, even if the set is incomplete.
