An acquittal and professional recognition

25th Conference of the Moscow Region Bar Association

The acquittal of Alexander Vasilyevich Tolstoy was upheld on appeal and in cassation. Advocate Levon Aramovich Petrosyan conducted the defence.

A defence upheld by the courts

The case required a consistent legal position, analysis of the evidence and defence of the first-instance court’s findings in subsequent challenges. The acquittal was upheld by the appellate and cassation courts.

The case is discussed in the chapter “Everything Can Be Seen from Space” in Grankin’s monograph “Acquittals”, published in 2026.

Recognition of professional work

On 27 February 2026, at the 25th Regular Conference of the Moscow Region Bar Association, Levon Petrosyan was recognised in the “We Are Proud” category for securing an acquittal.
